Henna Designs

For centuries women have used henna painting to adorn their bodies during times of celebration. The pregnant belly is a perfect canvas for such adornment. There is a unique and special beauty to an exposed belly painting in Mehndi. Henna is a delicate and graceful art making henna belly designs as original as the baby growing inside.

Imagine your unique henna painting gracing the cover of your shower invitation. There is no need to hide the belly at the beach.

Henna it, Expose it, Celebrate it!

How Are Henna Belly Designs Made?

The art of henna painting, called Mehndi, is done by applying a paste to the skin. The paste is made from the plant Lawsonia Inermis, which stains the skin to form a temporary tattoo that lasts from 1 to 3 weeks (sometimes longer); depending on it’s after care.

Belly painting with henna is generally safe during pregnancy, but as with anything done to the body during this time, a mother-to-be should gain approval from her obstetrician.  Anyone that has been diagnosed with G6PD (Glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency, is allergic to Fava beans, or is severely anemic should not get a henna tattoo.
