3D and 4D Ultrasounds
A 3D ultrasound is a 3 dimensional view of your baby using using concentrated ultrasound beams. The traditional 2D Ultrasound shown here, is similar to a regular black & white photograph with very little detail of your baby.
We use state-of-the-art machines, with the newest software so your 3D/4D ultrasound images are the highest resolution and best quality possible. However, many factors affect the quality of the 3D Ultrasound.
Getting the Best 3D & 4D Ultrasound Pictures
Believe it or not, your baby can decide on how great the images come out. They can start their stubborn streak even while in the womb! If your baby is being shy and is holding his arms in front of his face, a clear facial 3D/4D image may be difficult to capture.
Our highly experienced ultrasonographers will do their best to coax your baby into favorable positions to get the best image possible. Moms can help by staying well-hydrated for the 24 hours prior to their appointment, and by eating a good, high carbohydrate meal prior to the ultrasound session. With proper hydration, comes plenty of amniotic fluid, thus allowing the ultrasound waves to create a great image of your baby. So, drink your water ladies!
Difference Between A 3D & 4D Ultrasound
There is a big difference between 3D and 4D ultrasounds. In a 4D ultrasound, we capture activity with moving 3D images. You should be able to see your baby moving, sucking their thumb, smiling, swallowing, and sometimes even making waving movements! It is the closest thing to being able to actually look in on your baby. Our new parents and their family members are often astounded by what they see in a 3D or 4D ultrasound.
